Montenegrin Minister questioned over Velje brdo project irregularities

Slaven Radunović, Montenegro’s Minister of Spatial Planning and Urbanism, and Chief State Architect Mirjana Đurišić have been questioned by the Special Police Department (SPO). The questioning follows an anonymous report regarding alleged procedural irregularities in an international competition for the first residential block of the controversial Velje brdo project.

Civil activist Aleksandar Dragićević has criticized the project, noting that the Ministry of Urbanism previously had to cancel a competition after warnings that it was illegal and inconsistent with the project's own regulations. Dragićević also raised concerns regarding potential conflicts of interest, noting that members of the selection commission were affiliated with the same university.

Minister Radunović has denied any wrongdoing, stating that neither he, Đurišić, nor anyone in his ministry should be held responsible for potential illegalities in the process.
