Montenegrin officials dispute forest administration corruption claims
Andrija Delić, State Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, and Ranko Kankaraš, Head of the Forestry Directorate, have responded to allegations of false reporting made by Miloš Rajković, Director of the Forest and Hunting Management Administration.
Delić and Kankaraš characterized the Director's claims as a “smoke bomb” and asserted that no evidence has been provided to prove a criminal complaint was actually filed. They argue that the Director's reaction is a defensive move stemming from an ongoing investigation by the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje. This investigation concerns the alleged organized looting and devastation of state forests in Mojkovac.
The officials have raised several specific allegations against the Forest Administration, including claims that wood orders for heating were signed in the names of deceased individuals or people not residing in the relevant municipalities. They also questioned whether high-quality timber was being improperly distributed under the guise of firewood and noted the issuance of anonymous delivery notes using official state seals.
