Montenegrin party prepares Declaration on Reconciliation for Parliament

The political party Nova srpska demokratija (NSD), led by Andrija Mandić, is preparing a ‘Declaration on Reconciliation and Unity’ to be presented to the Montenegrin Parliament. The initiative aims to establish a framework for cooperation, mutual respect, and trust among all ethnic groups and citizens within the country.

According to Mirko Miličić of the NSD, the declaration emphasizes that Montenegro is a common state for all citizens and that diverse national and cultural identities, including Serbian and Montenegrin, should not be viewed as threats. The document seeks to ensure that differing historical perspectives do not serve as grounds for permanent political hostility, focusing instead on a shared European future.

While the NSD suggests the proposal will receive broad support, opposition figures have expressed reservations. Ivan Vujović, a leader of the European Alliance, has called on the NSD to reconcile with other fundamental elements, including the Constitution of Montenegro.
