Montenegrin players shine in Champions League handball debut
Montenegrin handball players Nebojša Simić and Branko Vujović delivered notable performances during the opening matches of the new EHF Champions League season.
In MT Melsungen’s historic Champions League debut, goalkeeper Nebojša Simić played a decisive role in their 33:31 victory over Vardar Skopje. Simić recorded between 12 and 14 saves, helping the German side secure two points in their first appearance in the competition. His father, Goran Simić, a former goalkeeper coach at Vardar, traveled from Montenegro to witness the match.
In another fixture, Branko Vujović, playing for Dinamo București, scored four goals in a 27:23 loss against Montpellier. Despite the defeat, Vujović was among the most effective players for the Romanian champions.
