Zadar County: Four arrested for arson at 10 locations

Four individuals have been arrested in connection with a series of deliberate fires across ten locations in Zadar County, Croatia. The suspects include three Croatian citizens, aged 42, 45, and 46, and a 33-year-old Polish woman. Authorities believe the group acted according to a prior plan and mutual agreement to ignite fires using lighters or flammable materials on August 14 and 15.

The fires affected multiple areas, including Bili Brig, Zemunik Donji, Galovac, Donje Biljane, Zapuže, Zagrad, Lišane Tinjske, Škabrnja, and Benkovac. The incidents caused significant material damage, including the destruction of a parked vehicle in Bili Brig and 43 olive trees between Škabrnja and Zemunik Donji.

During searches conducted under court warrants, police seized a semi-automatic rifle with 44 rounds of ammunition from one suspect and a pistol from another. Due to the nature of the incidents, the Croatian anti-corruption and organized crime agency (USKOK) is involved, as investigators are exploring potential links to terrorism.
