Montenegrin police seize 13.5 tons of tobacco in illegal warehouse

Police in Danilovgrad and the Sector for Combating Crime have uncovered an illegally constructed warehouse in Grbe, Montenegro. The facility was located on land belonging to Aleksandar Mrkić, a fugitive smuggler currently wanted by Interpol Podgorica.

During the search, authorities seized 13.5 tons of tobacco in both leaf and shredded forms, along with various tobacco processing machines and packaging materials. The building has been sealed, and the seized items have been temporarily confiscated.

Mrkić is wanted by the High Court in Podgorica following indictments from the Special State Prosecutor's Office. He is suspected of involvement in creating a criminal organization, money laundering, and smuggling. Further investigations and police-prosecutorial activities are ongoing.
