Montenegrin regional projects receive EU support for health and energy

The General Hospital of Pljevlja has been awarded a grant to improve healthcare services through a cross-border cooperation project titled ‘Integrated health services in a cross-border context for marginalized communities in Pljevlja and Kraljevo’. Supported by the European Union through the IPA III Program, the project has a total value exceeding 328,000 euros, with the EU providing nearly 279,000 euros. Key improvements include the acquisition of a modern digital mammography system with tomosynthesis to enhance early breast cancer detection for women in the Pljevlja and Žabljak areas. The project, which begins on October 1, 2026, involves collaboration with the Health Center Kraljevo, which will receive a resuscitation medical vehicle equipped with diagnostic tools.

In a separate regional development initiative, representatives from the Municipality of Tivat participated in the ‘Energy Communities in Practice’ international conference in Croatia. The municipality is implementing the APOLLO project under the Interreg VI-A IPA program involving Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro. This project focuses on renewable energy and energy efficiency, including the construction of a photovoltaic power plant on the roof of the Tivat municipal building and the introduction of electric minibuses to establish a green mobility link between Tivat Airport and the city center.
