Montenegrin sailor recounts three-month ordeal in Guinea

Milan Nikolić, a sailor from Herceg Novi, Montenegro, has shared his account of being stranded on a vessel in Guinea for three months. Following the arrest of the ship's owner, the 12-member crew was left without electricity, food, or clean water.

Nikolić reported that the crew survived on rice for a month and used seawater for washing dishes. During the ordeal, he lost approximately 15 kilograms and contracted malaria. The crew, which included members from Pakistan and an Indian captain, remained trapped beyond their original six-month contracts.

The situation was eventually resolved through the intervention of the Seamen and Dockers Union of Montenegro and the International Transport Workers' Federation.
