Montenegrin Sailors Miss Final Group at European Optimist Championship in Poland
Montenegrin sailors competing in the Optimist class at the European Championship in Gdynia, Poland failed to qualify for the gold (final) group and will continue in the silver and bronze groups. In the male fleet, Damir Đešević placed 66th, six points shy of the gold group, while Risto Milojević, who was 89th before the final day, will race in the silver group with a total of 101 points. Matijević and Balša Banićević are moving to the bronze group. In the women's fleet, Valentina Đorđević finished 88th and will also compete in the silver group, joined by Helena Vujasović, currently 116th. The event featured about 170 male and 120 female competitors from Europe and beyond. Organisers reported extremely demanding conditions on the third qualifying day, with strong, shifting westerly winds and large, choppy waves that tested the sailors' physical and mental endurance.
