Montenegrin Sports Inspection finds Judo Federation violated law

The Sports Inspection of Montenegro's Ministry of Sports and Youth has ruled that the Judo Federation of Montenegro (DŽSCG) violated the Law on Sport in its treatment of Judo Club Ippon and its founder, Srđan Mrvaljević.

According to Mrvaljević, the inspection determined that the Federation's Disciplinary Commission lacked the legal basis to initiate proceedings against the club and its leadership. The attempt to penalize athletes for participating in regional tournaments in Belgrade, Dubrovnik, and Mostar was declared null and void, as the Federation holds no jurisdiction over those specific competitions.

A request for misdemeanor proceedings will be filed against the Federation due to these irregularities and the absence of mandatory sports arbitration. Additionally, the Agency for Protection of Personal Data and Free Access to Information (AZLP) has ruled that the Federation is considered a public authority under the Law on Free Access to Information because it utilizes state budget funds. This decision mandates greater transparency regarding the Federation's financial expenditures and subjects it to the Law on Public Procurement.
