Montenegrin unions demand new General Collective Agreement

Montenegro trade unions General Collective Agreement wage increases labor rights

The Union of Free Trade Unions of Montenegro (USSCG) and the Federation of Trade Unions of Montenegro (SSCG) have issued a formal appeal to the Ministry of Labour, Employment, and Social Dialogue and the Union of Employers of Montenegro. The unions are demanding the immediate conclusion of a new General Collective Agreement (OKU).

The agreement includes a proposed increase in the calculation value of the coefficient from 90 to 100 euros, as well as increased complexity coefficients. While a compromise regarding these increases was reportedly reached earlier this year, implementation has been delayed.

Union leaders Srđa Keković and Duško Zarubica stated that employees in both the public and private sectors have been deprived of these wage increases for ten months. They attributed the delay to the Government of Montenegro's hesitation regarding different economic models and the Union of Employers' refusal to finalize the contract pending meetings with the Prime Minister.
