Montenegro amends Higher Education Law to align nursing studies with EU standards
The Parliament of Montenegro has adopted an amendment to the Law on Higher Education aimed at improving the training of nursing students for general healthcare at the University of Montenegro.
The amendment reorganizes the study program into two semesters of 15 teaching weeks each, ensuring a more sustainable and higher-quality educational model. This change aligns Montenegrin education with European Union standards, which require at least three years of study and a minimum of 4,600 hours of theoretical instruction and clinical training.
According to the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, the new structure will allow for a more even distribution of theory and practical training. Furthermore, the amendment facilitates the automatic recognition of nursing professional qualifications within EU member states, supporting Montenegro's European integration process.
