Montenegro and Bosnia face controversy over war crime associations

Controversy has emerged regarding the use of Montenegrin cultural symbols in connection with war criminals. Reports highlight photographs featuring individuals in traditional Montenegrin national dress alongside imagery of Ratko Mladić, a person convicted of genocide and war crimes. Critics argue that using the national costume in such a context constitutes a misuse of Montenegro’s cultural heritage and historical identity.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) is facing scrutiny for its inclusion of Senahid Godinjak on its candidate list for the House of Representatives of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Godinjak is currently facing indictment by the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina for war crimes. The charges involve command responsibility for the shelling of an Orthodox church during a wedding celebration in August 1995, an incident that resulted in one death and 50 injuries among civilians.
