Montenegro and Croatia Communities Clear Waste and Deploy Mobile Recycling Yards

Residents of Donje Gorica, a suburb of Podgorica, organized a cleanup of green waste that had accumulated on a public road in front of the capital's municipal building. Led by local attorney Nikola Martinović, the group removed a third of the debris, planning to clear the rest and return the material to the city property, citing three years of unaddressed complaints to municipal authorities.

In the Croatian coastal city of Pula, the mobile recycling programme operated by Pula Herculanea has collected roughly 73 tonnes of bulky waste from four designated sites over six months. The initiative, aimed at simplifying waste disposal for residents, saw the majority of material classified as large, non‑hazardous items, with staff providing guidance on proper sorting and directing oversized loads to appropriate facilities.

Both efforts reflect local attempts to address waste management challenges amid perceived gaps in municipal service provision.
