Montenegro and France Sign Memorandum to Boost EU Accession Support

Montenegro’s minister of European affairs, Maida Gorčević, and French delegate minister for Europe and foreign affairs, Benžamen Adad, signed a three‑year Memorandum of Understanding in Cetinje. The agreement aims to strengthen cooperation between the two countries and raise awareness in France about Montenegro’s path toward European Union membership as accession negotiations enter their final phase.

The memorandum establishes a framework for joint actions involving French institutions, parliamentarians, academia, media, business and civil society. It is intended to present Montenegro’s reform results more prominently to the public of EU member states and to build broader support for its candidacy. As Gorčević said, “Potpisivanjem Memoranduma potvrđena je zajednička posvećenost dvije države evropskoj budućnosti Crne Gore,” adding that “Francuska je jedan od naših najvažnijih partnera na evropskom putu.” The cooperation will be implemented through a joint action plan supported by the two embassies.
