Montenegro and Serbia unveil new sports infrastructure and youth camp initiatives

Montenegro’s Minister of Sport and Youth Zoran Jojić met with Podgorica mayor Saša Mujović and sports secretary Darko Nikčević to review priority projects for the city’s sports development. The discussion centred on the construction of a new athletics stadium, for which a design and project brief have been completed and approved by the Athletics Federation of Montenegro. Additional plans include rebuilding the eastern stand of the City Stadium and preparing a tender for a national football stadium with a capacity of about 20,000 seats.

In Serbia, Education Minister Dejan Vuk Stanković visited the “Serbia Calls You” sports‑educational camp in Belgrade, which gathers diaspora youth from around the world. He highlighted sport as a key medium for connecting young people to their heritage, noting the camp’s five Olympic‑sport programmes—football, basketball, volleyball, tennis and handball—and Serbian‑language workshops aimed at strengthening cultural ties.

Both initiatives reflect government efforts in the Balkans to boost sports infrastructure and use sport to engage younger generations.
