Montenegro and Turkey discuss expanded healthcare cooperation

Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović met with Turkish health officials to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in healthcare and medical sciences. The discussions included Aziz Alper Biten, Director General for EU and International Relations at the Turkish Ministry of Health, and Serdar Senol, Director General of the Turkish Corporation for International Health Services (USHAŞ).

Key objectives of the meeting include intensifying activities under an updated cooperation agreement to improve treatment options for Montenegrin citizens in Turkish state health institutions. The two nations are also exploring specialized training programs for Montenegrin medical staff in fields where regional expertise is limited.

Additionally, officials discussed an initiative to establish a diagnostic center in Podgorica with support from Turkish health institutions and USHAŞ, focusing on the early detection of diseases such as cancer. The meeting also addressed the digitalization of healthcare systems, with Montenegro seeking to exchange experiences regarding the development of modern digital health infrastructure.
