Montenegro and UK parliaments promote democratic cooperation

The Parliament of Montenegro, in collaboration with the British Embassy in Montenegro and the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD), organized a presentation focused on the history and development of the United Kingdom's Parliament.

Boban Stanišić, the Secretary General of the Parliament of Montenegro, opened the event by stating that while the two parliaments operate under different historical, constitutional, and political circumstances, they share a fundamental commitment to parliamentary democracy and citizen representation. He emphasized that the discussion on parliamentary systems is vital for the future of their institutions and societies, particularly for the students in attendance who are future legal and political professionals.

Sara Pilbim, the Deputy British Ambassador to Montenegro, addressed the attendees, highlighting the strong and long-lasting relations between the United Kingdom and Montenegro. She noted that parliamentary cooperation serves as an important component of their partnership, offering an opportunity for the exchange of experiences and the strengthening of mutual understanding between two institutions with rich democratic traditions.
