Montenegro Book Launch and New Balkan Memoirs Highlight Regional Literary Heritage

A literary event at the Bar Cultural Center in Montenegro showcased Mitra Miša Škuletić’s collection *Kratke priče o beskrajnoj vodi*. The promotion, part of the “Barski ljetopis” series, emphasized the author’s maritime background and his transition from sailor and musician to writer. Škuletić discussed the book’s themes of sea life, personal memories and the influence of jazz, noting that the work originated during the pandemic and the proceeds support the local publisher NVU “Žene Bara”.

In Serbia, two recent publications received attention. Saša Obradović’s novel *Gost je otišao* explores a father’s attempt to understand his son’s suicide while reflecting on a city’s loss of identity. Meanwhile, Jasna Šamić’s memoir *Uspomena na Jugoslaviju* offers personal recollections of the former Yugoslav cities and their literary circles, featuring anecdotes about prominent writers such as Ivo Andrić and Meša Selimović. Both books examine the cultural and historical legacy of the region.
