Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina reaffirm EU accession as top priority

Zdenka Popović, deputy speaker of Montenegro’s Parliament, met with Zuzana Mihálcová Šutrajová, head of the EU’s Europe‑the‑West Balkans division, during an official visit to Podgorica. She reiterated that full EU membership remains Montenegro’s chief foreign‑policy objective, highlighted the need for continued reforms, rule‑of‑law improvements and greater women’s participation in politics, and praised the EU ambassador’s role in supporting the accession dialogue.

In Sarajevo, Borjana Krišto, chair of Bosnia‑Herzegovina’s Council of Ministers, held talks with EU Vice‑President Kaj Kallas. Krišto emphasized that, despite election‑year challenges, the government stays “strongly focused” on the EU path and will pursue the necessary reforms and parliamentary steps required for accession, underscoring the strategic importance of EU integration for the country.
