Both Montenegrin national chess teams suffered their first defeats during the third round of the Chess Olympiad in Samarkand.

The men's team lost 3:1 to Turkey, the 14th seed in the tournament. Jagiz Kan Erdogmus, rated 2716, defeated Denis Kadrić on the first board, while Sanal Vahap secured a win for Turkey against Luka Draskovic. Nikita Petrov and Nikola Djukic secured draws for Montenegro. Following two initial victories against Curaçao and Zambia, the men's team holds a record of two wins and one loss.

The women's team also lost 3:1 to the Czech Republic. After a previous draw against Georgia, the team struggled in this round; Nikolina Koljevic conceded an early advantage, and Alena Skvorcova and Aleksandra Milovic lost due to time pressure errors. Aleksandra Zerebcova provided the sole point for Montenegro with a victory over Joana Vorek on the first board.

In the upcoming round, the men's team is scheduled to play Cyprus, while the women's team will face Morocco.
