Chess Olympiad: Montenegro and Czech teams perform strongly in Samarkand
The FIDE Chess Olympiad in Samarkand has seen strong performances from several national teams. The Montenegrin national teams both secured victories in the opening rounds. The men's team achieved a decisive 4:0 win against Curacao and followed it with a 3.5:0.5 victory over Zambia. The women's team secured a historic 2:2 draw against the highly-rated Georgian team, highlighted by Alena Skvorcova's aggressive play and Aleksandra Milović's technical victory over Lela Javakashvili.
The Czech national team also competed in the event, securing three victories in their first four rounds, including wins against Belarus and Kyrgyzstan, and a draw against Germany. Their performance included a notable victory by Anna Rývová against the IBCA team.
In regional handball, ŽORK Bor secured a 24:21 victory over ŽRK Bekament BB in the Arkus league, maintaining their position at the top of the table ahead of upcoming regional and European matches.
