Montenegro coastal cleanup involves over 320 volunteers
More than 320 participants, including students, volunteers, and employees from various companies and institutions, took part in a large-scale coastal cleanup across Montenegro. Organized by the NGO Gnijezdo through the ‘Zeleni talas’ program and funded by the Embassy of France in Montenegro, the initiative took place simultaneously in Budva, Bar, Tivat, and Cetinje.
In Bar, approximately 70 volunteers focused on the City Beach, supported by local partners such as Luka Bar AD, Kalamper DOO, and Možura DOO. Participants included members of the ‘Žene Bara’ association and students from the ‘Blažo Jokov Orlandić’ elementary school. Divers from the Boka Diving Academy also contributed by cleaning the seabed, removing items ranging from plastic and glass to car tires and a traffic sign.
Organizers emphasized that while these cleanups are not a substitute for a functional waste management system, they serve as vital tools for raising public awareness about environmental responsibility and community involvement in protecting natural resources.
