Montenegro Commission calls for halt to HTP Boka asset sales
The Montenegrin Parliamentary Commission for Monitoring and Controlling Privatization Procedures has unanimously recommended that the Council for Privatization and Capital Projects hold an emergency session regarding HTP Boka. The company, Montenegro’s largest hotel and tourism enterprise, was privatized in 2007 when ownership transferred from the state to Dragan Brković.
The Commission is seeking to prevent further sales of the company’s assets if irregularities are identified. Key areas of concern include the sale of valuable land in Herceg Novi, whether real market value was paid for such land during the privatization process, and the failure to implement social programs promised to workers.
These recommendations follow suggestions from the Protector of Property-Legal Interests of Montenegro and input from HTP Boka employees. The Commission has requested documentation to investigate the financial aspects of the previous land transactions and the overall consequences of the privatization.
