Montenegro convicted sexual predator remains free pending prison transfer

An 85-year-old man convicted of sexually harassing a seven-year-old girl remains free in Montenegro, despite a final Supreme Court ruling sentencing him to five years in prison.

The delay in executing the sentence follows a request by the defendant's son to postpone the punishment due to the man's health conditions. Medical evaluations conducted by Dr. Nemanja Radojević indicated that the individual suffers from several chronic issues, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, high blood pressure, chest pain, dizziness, degenerative joint disease, and dementia caused by cerebral vascular occlusion.

The Basic Court in Bijelo Polje has announced that the convicted individual will be sent to prison on September 3. The victim's family expressed significant distress over the months-long delay, noting that the perpetrator lives in close proximity to their home.
