Balkan region sees surge in major criminal trials and indictments
Several high-profile criminal cases and legal proceedings are unfolding across the Balkan region and France.
In Croatia, an indictment has been filed against 29-year-old Stipe Mamić for the murder of Milan Drača, a former HDZ official, following a physical altercation in Zadar. Separately, a man in Zadar received a suspended sentence for domestic violence against his wife.
In Montenegro, police officer Darko Knežević testified in court regarding allegations that he improperly released an individual named Ljubo Milović. Meanwhile, the detention of Vehid Murić, suspected of murdering three men in Podgorica, has been extended until October 21.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina and France, members of the Hamidović clan from BiH were sentenced in a Paris court to between five and eight years in prison for human trafficking and exploiting minors for theft.
Additionally, the trial for the disappearance and death of two-year-old Danka Ilić in Serbia is approaching, with prosecutors seeking life sentences for Dejan Dragijević and Srđan Janković.
