Montenegro defeats Cyprus 2-1 in Nations League match

Cyprus suffered a 2-1 defeat against Montenegro in their Nations League opening match. Despite a standout performance from Edwards, who scored a long-range goal in the 55th minute, defensive lapses prevented the team from securing a result.

Montenegro dominated much of the first half, creating several opportunities that were kept at bay by goalkeeper Fabiano. In the second half, Cyprus improved their play through counter-attacks. After Edwards' goal, Montenegro equalized in the 63rd minute via a penalty converted by Krstovic following a foul in the box by Tsaroulla.

Cyprus had chances to reclaim the lead, including a shot by Loizou that went over the crossbar, but Montenegro secured the victory in the 86th minute when Osmalić scored from close range.
