Montenegro Defence Minister Krapović Praises Security Role at EU‑Western Balkans Summit

Defence Minister Dragan Krapović said the EU‑Western Balkans summit in Tivta was a “great success” for Montenegro, highlighting that the Ministry of Defence, the Montenegrin Army and the Police Directorate played a major part in organising and securing the event. He emphasized that all intelligence and security work was carried out by Montenegrin services without external participation.

Krapović also reaffirmed Montenegro’s position on the historic school ship Jadran, noting that a joint commission with Croatia has been formed to discuss the vessel’s status and that public statements will be avoided while the talks proceed.

Montenegrin security agencies announced that a charter flight bringing 87 Serbian citizens to the Tivta airport was expelled on 3 June, describing the passengers as a potential threat to national security because of their involvement in high‑risk public gatherings and prior incidents of violence.
