Montenegro distributes 33 million euros from Equalization Fund to 18 municipalities

Data from the Action for Social Justice (ASP) reveals that over 33 million euros have been distributed to 18 municipalities from the Equalization Fund during the first six months of 2026. This amount represents approximately 60 percent of the 55 million euros allocated for the entire year.

The distribution highlights significant regional economic disparities. Thirteen municipalities in the northern region received approximately 21.2 million euros, a fact the ASP notes indicates long-term economic stagnation in that area. Notable recipients in the north include Bijelo Polje with 4.4 million euros and Rožaje with over 3.4 million euros.

In the central region, four municipalities received more than 9.6 million euros, led by Nikšić with approximately 4.5 million euros. In the southern region, Ulcinj was the only coastal municipality to benefit, receiving over 2.1 million euros. Major coastal areas such as Budva, Kotor, and Tivat did not receive funds from this specific fund.
