Montenegro emerges as a top affordable travel destination in Europe
Montenegro is emerging as a prominent year-round travel destination in the Balkans, noted for its high quality-to-price ratio compared to Western European locations. While many tourists frequent the Adriatic coast and Kotor, the country’s northern mountainous regions offer significant appeal during the autumn and winter months.
Key attractions include the UNESCO World Heritage site, Durmitor National Park, and the Tara Canyon. The town of Zabljak, recognized as the highest mountain settlement in the Balkans, serves as a central hub for excursions to locations such as the Black Lake (Crno Jezero).
Economic data indicates that Montenegro remains an affordable option for travelers. During the summer period, four-star hotel stays in central locations typically range between 100 and 140 euros per night. Dining costs for a full dinner for two at a good restaurant are approximately 40 to 60 euros, while local transportation remains inexpensive, with city bus tickets costing around 2.50 euros.
