Montenegro energy transition presented at Oxford University
Montenegrin Minister of Energy and Mining, Admir Šahmanović, delivered a lecture at Pembroke College, University of Oxford, regarding Montenegro’s energy transition and its path toward European Union integration. The presentation, titled “Energy Transition on the Path to the EU: Leadership, Resilience, and Transformation – A Case Study of Montenegro,” focused on how small nations can contribute to large-scale European energy shifts.
Šahmanović highlighted the importance of energy security, the diversification of supply sources, and the accelerated development of renewable energy. He noted that while the Western Balkans possesses significant energy potential, further development requires stronger connections to the European market, infrastructure modernization, and a stable investment environment.
The Minister emphasized that aligning with European regulations is an opportunity to build a more modern and competitive energy sector. Key focus areas include connecting the Montenegrin and European energy markets, investing in renewables, and strengthening transmission infrastructure.
