Union of Employers of Montenegro proposes economic support package
The Union of Employers of Montenegro (UPCG) has submitted a package of 13 measures to the Government to support the economy amid planned wage increases. The Union has called for a meeting with Prime Minister Milojko Spajić to discuss how companies can absorb higher costs without jeopardizing employment or investment.
A key proposal involves maintaining the current model of two minimum wages, with amounts set at 800 and 1,000 euros starting January 1, 2027. The UPCG suggests a 12-month transition period accompanied by state subsidies for micro and small enterprises.
Other requested measures include the possibility of paying corporate income tax in six monthly installments to ease liquidity pressure, and a moratorium of at least 24 months on new or increased state and local levies. Additionally, the Union proposed changes to sick leave payments, requesting that the Health Insurance Fund directly pay benefits after 30 days of illness and from the first day for maternity leave.
