Montenegro facing €5 million claim over Durmitor cable car death

The family of Sebastian Hertner, a German football player who died in a cable car accident on the ‘Savin Kuk 2’ lift in Durmitor, is seeking 5 million euros in compensation from the state of Montenegro.

The accident occurred on December 20 last year. While the family has reportedly received compensation from a German insurance company, they are pursuing legal action against the state to resolve the matter. The Development Bank of Montenegro, which operates the cable car, has not yet responded to inquiries regarding the claim or the determination of personal responsibility for the tragedy.

The Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Pljevlja is currently conducting an investigation and performing technical expert assessments to determine the cause of the accident and whether criminal liability exists.
