Montenegro Football Association President Dejan Savićević Faces Resignation Calls Amid Club Failures
The civic group Fudbalska Crna Gora released a statement demanding the immediate resignation of Dejan Savićević, president of the Football Association of Montenegro. The group accused the federation's leadership of years of mismanagement, citing the lack of VAR technology, poor infrastructure, alleged match‑fixing and unequal rule enforcement that have hindered the sport’s development.
Montenegrin clubs have also endured a disastrous European season, losing all ten qualification matches and slipping to the bottom of UEFA’s club coefficient rankings. Clubs such as FK Sutjeska, OFK Petrovac and others failed to earn any points, prompting the association’s demand for systemic reforms and the removal of the federation president.
The statement, echoing the chant “Dejo, odlazi!” (“Dejan, leave!”), calls for a complete overhaul of Montenegrin football governance to restore competitiveness and credibility.
