Montenegro reports rising real estate prices and golden passport revenues

Montenegro is experiencing significant shifts in its economic and real estate sectors. According to Monstat, the average price for new construction reached 2,557 euros per square meter in the second quarter of 2026, a 4.6 percent increase from the first quarter. The coastal region remains the most expensive, with prices averaging 2,838 euros per square meter.

In terms of state revenue, the government reported that the economic citizenship program (golden passports) generated 427.2 million euros by the end of July. A significant portion of these funds, totaling 251.2 million euros, was directed toward tourism development projects. Additionally, 32.9 million euros were transferred to the development of less developed local self-government units.

Regarding infrastructure and travel, the Auto-moto Savez Crne Gore (AMSCG) has issued warnings for drivers to avoid long trips during peak heat. Several roadworks are currently underway, including the reconstruction of the Đurđevića Tara bridge, which has caused total traffic suspensions on the M-6 highway through October. Other regional road works in areas like Bar, Čevo, and Petnjica are also impacting traffic flow with various restrictions and scheduled closures.
