Montenegro signs road‑infra resilience pact while EU warns Serbia at Western Balkans summit

Montenegro's Transport Agency director Radomir Vuksanović signed a cooperation agreement within the Transport Community network that groups Western Balkan and EU member states. The pact aims to protect road infrastructure from climate‑related hazards such as floods, landslides and storms by enabling faster information exchange, sharing expertise and mutual support, reinforcing regional resilience and aligning with EU standards.

At the same EU Western Balkans summit in Tivat, EU leaders delivered a stern warning to Serbia, insisting it must implement reforms and fully align with EU foreign‑policy, including sanctions on Russia. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and other officials stressed that a “two‑chair” policy is no longer tolerated. Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić acknowledged the pressure and said Serbia will comply. The summit also highlighted Montenegro’s progress toward EU accession, with Croatia’s Premier Andrej Plenković raising bilateral issues with his Montenegrin counterpart.
