Montenegro hosts European anti-corruption conference in Budva

The 25th annual professional conference and General Assembly of the European Anti-Corruption Partners (EPAC) and the European Anti-Corruption Network (EACN) is currently taking place in Budva, Montenegro. Hosted by the Montenegrin Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (ASK), the event has brought together more than 180 experts from anti-corruption institutions, police oversight bodies, European Union institutions, and various international organizations.

During the opening ceremony, Montenegrin Minister of Justice Bojan Božović emphasized that strengthening the state's capacity to combat corruption remains a top priority for the government. He noted that achieving the results expected by international partners requires a collective effort across all branches of government and institutions to change public awareness regarding corrupt practices.

Minister of Internal Affairs Danilo Šaranović reported that the Ministry's anti-corruption department has formed 44 cases involving 104 individuals, covering issues such as abuse of office, bribery, and disproportionate assets. He added that 18 cases involving corruption suspicions and asset checks were specifically identified within the first six months of the year. The conference aims to focus on protecting public sector integrity and the financial interests of the European Union through practical cooperation and the exchange of professional experiences.
