Montenegro illuminates landmarks in blue for World Maritime Day

Montenegro has joined a global initiative by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to mark World Maritime Day by illuminating landmarks in blue. In Montenegro, the Millennium Bridge in Podgorica and various locations in Kotor were lit up to honor seafarers and support international efforts toward safer navigation, ocean conservation, and sustainable maritime development.

The theme for this year’s observance is ‘From Policy to Practice: Powering Maritime Excellence.’ This focus emphasizes the importance of translating international maritime regulations and policies into tangible results through technical assistance, training, and improved industry standards. The initiative also included the illumination of the IMO headquarters in London, with calls for member states and partners to participate in the global lighting campaign.
