Montenegro imposes extensive road closures and traffic bans on key routes

The Auto moto savez Crne Gore announced a series of temporary traffic restrictions across Montenegro beginning in 2026. A total ban for heavy trucks over 3.5 t on the Đurđevića Tara bridge (M‑6) started on 4 March 2026, with passenger and bus traffic operating on alternating schedules from 1 June to 9 August 2026 and a full closure to all vehicles and pedestrians from 10 August to 26 October 2026.

Additional road works affect multiple state roads: R‑29 (Kamenički bridge – Pečurice) faces a total ban on 29 July 2026, R‑30 (Petnjica – Bioča) and R‑17 (Čevo – Ridjani) have alternating closures and time‑restricted bans, and R‑3 (Pljevlja – Dajevica) operates under a one‑way regime until the end of July. Heavy‑vehicle restrictions (over 7.5 t) are imposed on major highways M‑1, M‑2, M‑3, M‑10 from 15 June to 15 September 2026, with nightly limits from 19:00 to 24:00 on weekdays and extended hours on weekends. A separate ban for buses and campers runs from 15 June to 15 October 2026 on the Kotor‑Trojica route. Alternate routes are provided for affected traffic.
