Montenegro introduces new school guidelines for gender-based and sexual violence
New guidelines for educational institutions in Montenegro have been established to address cases of gender-based and sexual violence against children. These procedures aim to provide schools with a clear framework for responding to suspected or known incidents, ensuring timely and professional action to protect students.
The guidelines were developed through a project led by the Center for Women's Rights and the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, with funding from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Following their adoption by the National Council for Education in May, the guidelines are now mandatory for all educational institutions in the country.
A conference in Podgorica will introduce these standards to school directors, focusing on the role of leadership in strengthening prevention mechanisms and fostering a safe school environment.
