Montenegro investigation into Đukanović offshore assets remains stalled

Dejan Milovac, Deputy Executive Director of the Network for the Affirmation of the NGO Sector (MANS), has raised concerns regarding the lack of progress in the Pandora Papers investigation in Montenegro. Five years after the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT) formed the case, there is still no official information regarding the results of investigations into the offshore business dealings of former President Milo Đukanović and his son, Blažo Đukanović.

Despite repeated inquiries from media outlets since the summer of 2024, the SDT has not provided updates on the status of the investigation or the reasons for the delay. While Special Prosecutor Sanja Jovićević previously stated that details could not be disclosed to protect the interests of the proceedings, Milovac argues that the complexity of gathering international legal assistance and banking documentation cannot indefinitely justify the absence of a decision in a case of such high public importance.
