Montenegro labor negotiations focus on salary coefficient increase
Representatives from the Montenegrin government, two major trade union centers, and the Employers' Union of Montenegro are meeting to negotiate a new General Collective Agreement (OKU).
A primary demand from the unions is to increase the calculation coefficient from 90 to 100 euros, a move that would raise basic salaries by approximately 11 percent. Other topics on the agenda include sick leave policies, Sunday work, and the potential implementation of a seven-hour workday.
Slobodan Mikavica, President of the Employers' Union, stated that while the organization is participating in the Social Council working group, there is currently no guarantee that the coefficient increase will be approved. He emphasized that any wage increases must be part of a comprehensive, sustainable package that considers the upcoming state budget and the needs of both employees and the economy. Unions expressed optimism that final negotiations and the signing of the agreement could occur in early September.
