Montenegro launches €2.9 million 2026 research and innovation incentive competition

The Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation of Montenegro announced a competition for users of incentive measures to develop research and innovation in 2026. The programme provides a total budget of €2.9 million and supports projects at all stages of technological development, from idea to commercialisation. Eligible applicants can receive up to €400,000 per innovation project, while licensed scientific‑research institutions may obtain up to €350,000 per year for one or more projects.

The competition is part of Montenegro’s Smart Specialisation Strategy 2026‑2031 and aims to stimulate private‑sector investment in micro, small and medium enterprises and to strengthen the capacity of research institutions. Applications are accepted until 31 December 2026 or until the allocated funds are exhausted, and will be evaluated in order of receipt after administrative checks.
