Montenegro maritime inspections issue 530,000 euros in fines
Montenegro's Ministry of Maritime Affairs reported that maritime safety inspections conducted during the summer tourist season resulted in approximately 530,000 euros in fines through September 1.
Minister Filip Radulović stated that inspectors performed roughly 1,500 maritime controls. The total fine amount represents a significant increase compared to the previous year, where total fines amounted to approximately 87,000 euros.
The most frequent violations included exceeding permitted speeds, which is identified as a major safety risk. Other recorded infractions involved improper distances from the coast and swimmers, excessive passenger numbers on vessels, and irregularities regarding vessel registration. Radulović emphasized that the goal of the increased inspections is to improve maritime safety and ensure consistent compliance with regulations.
