Montenegro marks historical military victories and Day of the Armed Forces

Montenegrin government officials and military leaders held commemorations to honor historical military victories and prepare for the Day of the Armed Forces.

Deputy Prime Minister Aleksa Bečić, Defense Minister Dragan Krapović, and Chief of the General Staff Brigadier General Miodrag Vuksanović laid wreaths at the Krusi monument to mark the 230th anniversary of the Battle of Krusi. Bečić highlighted the victory as a moral triumph, noting that the smaller Montenegrin force defeated a much larger enemy led by Mahmut-paša Bušatlija through unity and the leadership of Saint Peter of Cetinje.

In preparation for the Day of the Armed Forces on October 7, Montenegrin military units also conducted a symbolic 10-kilometer march from Bar to the Tuđemili monument. The march, performed in full combat gear, aimed to connect modern military professionalism with the historical legacy of Prince Vojislav’s forces, who defeated Byzantine troops in 1042.
