Montenegro Minister considers reducing traffic fines

Montenegrin Transport Minister Radoš Zečević has suggested that the Ministry of Transport may initiate a legal amendment to reduce traffic fines. Zečević stated that current monetary penalties are too high relative to the living standards of citizens, noting that while some fines reach 1,500 euros, they are disproportionate to local wages.

Despite the high costs, the Minister acknowledged that stricter enforcement has yielded positive results, particularly regarding illegal parking and urban traffic flow.

Addressing concerns over vehicle registration costs, Zečević clarified that while certain individual items within the registration process have increased, the total cost has not risen by the 100 percent reported in some public discussions. He explained that registration consists of approximately 20 different items, only a few of which have seen price changes.
