The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management has adopted a new Rulebook on hunting seasons for wildlife, implemented in September 2026. The regulation was developed using scientific principles and biological characteristics of species, following practices observed in European countries.

The new rules clearly define hunting seasons for various categories of deer, roe deer, chamois, and mouflon. Hunting periods for certain species have been adjusted to account for biological characteristics, climate conditions, migrations, and the protection of agriculture and forestry.

A key component of the rulebook is the approach to population management. The Ministry stated that selection and sanitary culling should not be based exclusively on sex, but must include individuals of different sexes and age categories to maintain natural population structures. Additionally, the rulebook introduces changes to hunting days, now allowing for hunting on Saturdays and public holidays.
