Montenegro Ministry of Agriculture announces fuel excise support for farmers

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management has met with farmers to address challenges caused by a prolonged drought, specifically the reduction in forage crop yields. As part of the support measures, fuel excise refunds for agricultural producers are expected to be paid out within the coming week.

To address drought-related damages, the Ministry is requesting local governments in four central municipalities to conduct formal damage assessments. Once local services complete their reports and documentation, the Ministry will meet with producers again to review the findings and determine next steps. The Ministry intends to submit a report on the situation to the Government to explore further assistance options.

While the drought has impacted forage and hay yields, officials noted that it has not yet directly affected livestock numbers or milk production. However, they expressed concern that less than 35 percent of meadows have been mown across the country, urging producers to intensify mowing to ensure sufficient feed supplies.
