Montenegro Ministry of Education monitors security for school start

The Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MPNI) in Montenegro has announced that the start of the school year may be postponed depending on the security situation. The Ministry stated it is in constant communication with relevant authorities to prioritize the safety of children and will notify the public immediately if a delay is necessary.

Due to a tragic event in the Danilovgrad municipality, all school and preschool activities in Danilovgrad and its surroundings have been postponed until September 3, 2026. Consequently, planned ceremonies and the official reception for first-grade students across all primary schools in Montenegro have also been rescheduled to September 3, 2026.

Regarding preschool attendance, the MPNI is following Ministry of Health recommendations concerning vaccination status. Guidelines state that children must have a regular vaccination status to attend preschool institutions. Exceptions are permitted only if a pediatrician provides a formal note in the electronic vaccination record confirming a justified reason for delayed vaccination.
