Montenegro MP warns against new burdens on small businesses
Boris Mugoša, a Member of Parliament for the European Alliance, has warned that upcoming economic decisions must not impose additional financial burdens on Montenegro’s micro and small enterprises, farmers, and the private sector.
Mugoša noted that micro and small businesses constitute 97 percent of all enterprises in Montenegro and have reportedly operated with continuous losses for the last six years. He emphasized that these businesses are essential to the national economy and employ a significant number of workers.
The MP also highlighted the vulnerability of agricultural producers, stating that any additional financial pressure could threaten their market sustainability. He argued that instead of new taxes or fiscal impositions, the government should provide stronger systemic and institutional support to help domestic producers increase competitiveness ahead of entering the European Union market.
